Dearest helpless
Intent's not as bad as the action
Take a breath to distort
The fear in your eyes
I don't mean it to hurt
But every time I hate you
I think of you first

He's made you blind
You're better on your own
I'm just the kind to bring you down

Equalize the pressure, it's all too much
Sex drugs and image is just enough
To get you by in the real world

He's made you blind
You're better on your own
I'm just the kind to bring you down

He's made you blind
I'm just the kind
To bring you, to bring you...
He's made you blind
You're better on your own
I'm just the kind
To bring you down

More from Daniel on Dearest Helpless

"When I wrote this bunch of songs and came to present them to
Ben and Chris, this was one of the first ones I showed them."
silverchair's Daniel Johns said about
Dearest Helpless. "I thought
they would really dig it because it was really heavy and hard. It
was also a lot different to any of the heavy stuff we had done
before that. And I remember showing Ben and Chris and they
just looked at me and Ben's like, 'It's pretty weird, man!'"

Dearest Helpless is hard and heavy, but also features strings
and sampling. Lyrically, it contains some interesting lines,
including, "Sex drugs and image is just enough to get you by
in the real world."

"Once people get too involved in the whole rock and roll
lifestyle," said Johns, "a lot of people tend to forget about
the 9-to-5 world out there, which isn't bad or good -- it's just
something that happens, and a lot of people get so consumed in
the whole rock and roll thing that they forget there is a whole
other world out there which really doesn't care about music at all."
